Spotted wearing the bellbottoms trend is stylist Tayo Shonekan at the elite model search finale. She's wearing it with a one shouldered embroidered lace top with flared bottoms. I predict seeing more of this trend before the year runs out.

the bellbottoms which were a big hit in the 70's have come back not quite sure if its making a hit though because its being kind of off and on. it made its first comeback in 2009 where stars like kim kardashian (above), heidi klum, victoria beckham and jeniffer lopez were spotted wearing it and its is slightly easing its way into the year 2010.

I call it hand art because they are works of art. Any lover of beautiful things will want to covet one or two if not all of the collection. Here are my fave pieces from the collection. Notice this is my second blog on accessories. I'm becoming an adept lover of accessories, they are fun and not hard to style except when they are overdone. you could wake up years of unused clothing in your closet with a purse or earrings.

The name has said it all. Spotted them in fab magazine for the first time and I was wondering why i hadn't heard about it. Some months ago,while i was still toying with the idea of starting up a blog, I was opportuned to be at an event that held important people in the media industry. after struggling to muscle up courage, I walked upto one of them, a journalist (name withheld). she was very friendly as i introduced myself, we chatted for like a minute and then she said "oh! so you are one of those fashion bloggers" and i was like yeah and she said "hmm, i don't do fashion interviews, i'm a journalist, i report on important things" as she was saying this my eye took a brief roam n spotted a lovely necklace and simple grey dress not to mention the shoes and the bag. I was confused there for a second, as this was not my first time seeing her. she was always looking gorgeous and impeccably dressed in the magazines. This was some time ago so i don't remember her exact words. but what i got from the conversation was fashion was a vain matter not to be given much thought to.


I thought about this on my way home, how can someone so stylish be so non-challant about fashion. the fashionista in me took offence but the being the rational being that I am, I have come to understand that not everyone appreciates fashion and all the work that goes into the sketching,designing, tailoring, not to mention the research designers carryout to ensure each collection is appealing and tasteful to the wearer.

Nevertheless, I love fashion and the beauty and creativity of it all and how it enables one to express oneself without so much as a word. A medium to seperate oneself from other people, easiest form of communication. many many more reasons but i'll hold myself for now or at least till my next article.

When i was younger, i would watch movies and music videos and pretend i was from america. I never wanted to live in Nigeria but now i can say otherwise. There has been so much change since then. especially our music and fashion industry. Whoever thought genevieve would be featured on oprah or mi and psquare being nominated for bet awards. Oh fellow nigerians, we are getting there o! According to pastors like Pastor E.A Adeboye, Pastor Oyedepo and motivational speaker fela durotoye, nigeria would be the most favourable country to live in in 2025. it is all in our hands, the youth of today.
Now african designers are getting international recognition courtesy of the arise initiative. it is now a big deal to be seen in a deola sagoe jeans or jewel by lisa dress as opposed to when it was just prada, versace and the likes. Also an average nigerian now is computer literate so can just log onto bellanaija.com to see whats going on in the entertaiment industry. Before, hardly would you see any nigerian song on peoples playlist. It was ragarded as "uncool". but now when change your parade by chukie lynxxx or omoba by dprince hit the speakers, people get up from thier seats.
Wouldn't you want to eat out of this national cake when it is fully blossomed. if you do, then i implore you to stop sitting on that couch watching tv while the days are wasting away and do something skillful. It doesn't have to be music or fashion. it could be sports, catering or baking. whatever your skill is you need to tap into it before the holiday is over.
