6th Day of Christmas

Blazers were a big hit this year, we saw the basic one coloured ones, we saw the striped ones, i doubt if they'll go out in the year 2011, one thing i know about fashionistas is they like to be at the top of their game. african print jacket is the way to go!
On the 6th day of christmas, my true love gave to me

Blazer by Ejiro Amos Tafiri. i admit i'm tired of the peak shoulders but this blazer is so edgy n chic, i don't mind at all.
If you don't wanna go all africana with your blazer, you could try this Iris blazer by Nike Akinola with the peekaboo detailing

Even Rihanna was spotted wearing african print blazer though not designed by an african. its from gweh stefani's LAMB spring collection.
Lets support our own and buy Nigerian!

7th Day of Christmas

i've decided to blog fabulous ideas of style items that i'll love to get for christmas, made in Nigeria! the aim is just to expose my loves n faves of items designed in Nigeria. if in the process, someone decides to get it for me, i won't pretend not to be happy.
so on the 7th day of christmas, my true love sent to me

An uber fab detailed necklace by jewel by lisa. statement necklaces are what they are style statements!! i also love the ones by HVS which i guess is cheaper

you might also like the ones by ituen basi. celebs like kemi adetiba among others have been spotted rocking it.

rock em with a tank, rock em with a dress. if you buy at all, why not buy Nigerian!

Style Puss loves: Slits!!

Angelina at the salt premiere in versace

tiwa at the mamas in toju foyeh

My current style love among others has to be the thigh high slit! its very daring and haute. fashionistas from angelina jolie to our very own red carpet diva tiwa savage have been spotted rocking this trend. Taking the thigh high trend to the extreme is Rihanna, i don't blame her though, she's got the body!

I like the fact that the legs are the main focus, exposing the upper torso would make this look trashy. my fave look of this thigh high slit however would have to be blake lively in lanvin spring 2010 collection.

i love the brown nude and grey combination, the sleek hair n d brooch!
i noticed the use of drapery on the dresses. i think that glams up the look.
Would you dare to rock this look? my answer: once my pilates start showing effect.

Naija Boys for Naija kids!

Stylepreneur Nike Ogunlesi owner of ruff n tumble boutique has a new line for her store, its called naija boys! what i love is the use of naija in the name of the line. few years ago, people would not even dare associate the name naija to their brand as it would be the topmost reason people wouldn't purchase the item. A lot of change is going on in the Nigerian fashion industry and its interesting to see childrens line picking up too. here are some of the pictures modelled by adorable children

Femme Fetale- Lace Colour Sheer Print Pleats Texture!!!

This words are not normally found in the same sentence. i can imagine you thinking, isn't this a bit much at the same time but i bid you not to be scared, our uber fab naij designers lisa folawiyo and deola sagoe have managed to make this work in their different ways.

I'm fascinated by lisa folawiyos latest collection ''global minimalism'' what an ironic name, there is so much colour in this collection,

it takes me back to ituen basi's summer collection for 2010. this collection is not for the faint hearted as it is bold. i normally am up for the 50's/ 60's look where feminity was highly embraced. this collection has incorporated sheer, print and colour in ways only a creative person could pull off.

on the other hand, Deola Sagoe has taken a darker approach to this trend incorporating texture creating a stronger look for the trend.

PLEATS PLEATS PLEATS
i'm loving pleats now, they are fun and flirty. you cannot not look like a woman in them except well......... lol! back to my point.

pleated chiffon dress by babushka

full skirts are girly and fun, you could either dress them down with a tshirt, formal it up with a blazer or retro them out with a chiffon blouse. (btw babushka does amazing longsleeve chiffon blouses)

Maju- Ready to wear at its best

You might have heard of maju if you went for the october edition of LPM. The line of dresses, purses and sandals have a hint of vintage in them especially the bags. the best news is they are affordable, proof that not all stylish items have to be expensive. it is no wonder why the maju stall at LPM was so busy. here are some of the pictures from their ember collection

La Petit Marche': October Edition

Firstly i apologize for the late post! The October edition was the first I ever attended, I made sure I made it cuz i had missed the previous ones for various reasons. there were so many stalls, I didn't even know where to start from. I have to say I was impressed as most of the goods were made in Nigeria or designed by a Nigerian. It is a good place to pick up gifts for family and friends, even for yourself. With Christmas coming I urge you not to miss the November edition.
