Keeping up with Kemi Adetiba's Style

who remembers this edition of true love? i remember reading it and becoming more inspired by the lady on it. this was actually not the first time i saw her. i knew of her work on studio 63 even though i never watched it and tempation nigeria alongside i.k, host of big brother africa. Watching her shows, i could tell her style was demure, simple and sophisticated.......

video shoot for bez's "more you"
but then, she branches out to directing and producing and i'm like "wait a minute!! is this the same person"
understandable though since she's no carrie bradford that does everything in heels (i bet even sarah jessica parker can't do that). afterall kemi still looks fab on the red carpet.

it doesn't stop there! she's not just about dresses and heels, according to the pictures she posted on twitter and her tweets, she's also a sneaker junkie! wow!

first time i heard the word 'divine' being used for sneakers
and the look everyone on twitter couldn't get enough of was her outfits for hosting maltina family dance all.

and my favourite look of all

don't know exactly where to place her style but all i know is whatever she's wearing, she rocks it with confidence and that my readers is key to pulling off any look.

5 items that will give your wardrobe a pop!!

As another month is coming to an end, salaries and allowance have people thinking on how to spend their money. I'm no financial expert but I know how we walk into a shop and later regret most of our purchases. I hate being in that position even though I recommend every once in a while impulse buying. Here are the lists of things you might not have realized but will go a long way in transforming your look.

1) BROOCH
They come in all sorts of design and colours plus they are easy on the pocket. you can wear it the classic way which is on the lapel of a blazer or through the holes of your skinny belt right next to the buckle. You could even gather a bunch of necklaces and pin them together with a brooch or tie a scarf in form of a headband and pin the brooch to hold it up.
there are lots of ways to incorporate a brooch to your look.

2) COLOURED/TEXTURED/PATTERNED BLAZER
Unlike what most people think, these blazers would go with most even of outfits if co-ordinated well. wear it with a frill dress or lbd or even a prim pencil skirt or denim. It will bring a new statement to your outfit. Personally I love the red blazer paired with gold and black chunky accessories.

3) STATEMENT WATCH

4) CARDIGANS
Yes! even with our weather, you can rock cardigans, the light material ed ones though. I'll advise you stay away from the embellished one as they are not as versatile as most, if you don't want the regular plain cardigans, you could go for striped ones like the one in the picture or just pin a brooch to it. they come in long sleeve, quarter sleeve or no sleeves so they can be worn with almost anything. if you choose to leave the buttons open, wear a skinny belt over it for a more defined look.

5) FEDORA HAT

As seen on mo cheddah in my last post. fear not, you don't need a professional stylist to know how to rock this look. Wear it with a maxi or mini dress or jeans. It is a casual look, please DO NOT wear it for a formal event as I've seen many Nigerian celebs sporting it on the red carpet. a brooch can also be pinned to it to give it a twist.

hott album cover!!

Props to whoever styled mocheddah n extra props for the denim jacket, they are fast becoming my favorite for the season. The fedora gives it the posh finishing touch.

Pink Ribbon Day - Breast Cancer Pink Ribbons

Pink Ribbon Day - Breast Cancer Pink Ribbons
A lot of women are diagnosed with cancer every year. this is an awareness to all females, it could be anyone, remember to check yourself as often as possible and tell your loved ones too. my heart goes out to all the women affected with it and appreciation to the institutions, foundations that are working on this problem.

freedom tower lit up in pink for awareness

kimk promoting the awareness
i really do wish we could have a few of those in Nigeria, i'm sure we will soon enough. For those in the u.s or u.k, you can volunteer or help in one way or the other, google it, plenty sites are involved with the movement. Get the word out!!!
even the NFL players got with the movement

Fashionable Art

I think the strength of a true designer is to bring beauty out of the unimagined. If not, then the designer is just random. Creativity inspires me - the ability to think out of the box. Spotted some works on http://www.bellanaija.com/ they are not what you see everyday so I felt I should blog about it.

Everyone knows the ghana must go bag. the one you wouldn't want to travel abroad with but won't mind if it was a trip to the village. this dress is from the collection ''freeing your inner art" by LBDB at first sight i thought it was a gingham dress not knowing it was our very own ''ghana must go'' and also below is the mattress inspired skirt designed by Ituen Basi. I must say  that these are not items i would wear but i am definitely inspired

Playsuits: Still IN or OUT?

We all loved the long jumpsuit but we have gotten used to seeing only one particular style of it i.e the harem type. Short playsuits are more fun but they fizzled out after spring to give way for the long jumpsuits which we have become too familiar with. you can even wear them with a vest or boyfriend blazer for a more chic look. I'm loving the slouchy type as seen in the pictures above, they can even be paired with tights.  if you are still loving the longer types, go for the wide leg and fitted versions of the playsuit.
I am also loving the african print playsuits. they are my faves for the moment.

Seen rocking the jumpsuit is fashionista Nike Osinowo Soleye and tv presenter Adora Oleh in the new edition of complete fashion and kim kardashian while touring in capri and they all look fab in it.So it is safe to say that the jumpsuit is still in. for how long? i don't know

Fashion lovers: Cropped tops

sleeveless cropped top with red high waist skirt
 this 80's trend is back! girls with a bit of tummy should not be scared at all. this top can be worn in different stylish ways without baring the midriff. Lagosians are definitely stylish people, i just love the way it was worn by these two ladies in the picture above and below;

grey cropped top paired with grey maxi dress
this top can also be worn with moto jeans and a tank top beneath if you dont want to reveal skin
